Roof Enemies

Leak Barrier:

A quality leak barrier will help create a watertight seal that keeps water out of the most vulnerable areas of your roof (at the eaves and rakes, in valleys, around chimneys and skylights, etc.). This protects your home or building by preventing costly repairs due to wall or ceiling staining, leaking due to water damming in your gutters, wind-driven rain and, in colder areas, damaging ice dams. Leak barrier is commonly referred to as ice and water shield.

Roof Deck Protection:

Roof deck protection is the felt underlayment under your shingles. Felt comes in 15#, 30# and the newest technology, fiberglass. Quality roof deck protection provides an extra layer of protection from wind-driven rain (or water from other sources) to help keep moisture form infiltrating under your shingles and causing damage to your roof structure or the inside of your home or building. Fiberglass is our underlayment of choice. It will lay flatter and avoid wrinkles, allow shingles to lay flat and uniform, thus, allowing in a better- looking roofing job.

Quality Shingles:

We typically recommend quality shingles from GAF-ELK, CertainTeed and Tamko. These manufacturers are leaders in the industry, but others are available also. Most manufacturers have extensive online information available for your review and some are listed in our products page with available links to get you easily to their websites. Arrowhead recommends clients to take time and consideration in selecting their product as they last for long periods of time.

Attic Ventilation:

Effective attic ventilation is critical for a long-lasting roof. A properly balanced attic ventilation system will help to remove excess heat and moisture to protect your roof from premature deterioration, prevent roof rot in your attic or roof deck, minimize peeling and extend the life of exterior and interior paint, guard against ice damming in harsh winter climates and may even reduce excessive heating and air conditioning costs.

Ridge Cap Shingles:

A distinctive ridge cap will accentuate the natural beauty of your newly installed architectural shingle roof (or even add dimension and depth to a strip shingle roof). Ridge cap shingles insure a multi-layer protection at the highest-stress areas of your roof (the hips and ridges) and provide a striking and higher quality alternative to using strip shingles as your ridge cap.
